FOR EDUCATIONAL TRIPS - WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU!

  • Seasonal pricing - coaches are lower priced and we have better availability in the Autumn & Spring terms.

  • Skinners are members of the coach and bus industry trade body, the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT).

  • Skinners are agents for Thorpe Park & Chessington - you only pay for the tickets you use, invoiced after the event.

  • All Skinners coaches used on school trips are fitted with seat belts. Note: The mandatory wearing of seatbelts in coaches is law from 18th September 2006. There is no legal requirement for the use of booster seats in coaches and minibuses for seats behind the driver. This is the case for all our vehicles, however, some school minibuses have seats parallel to the driver and in this case booster seats must be used in those seats for children under the age of 12 or less than 135cm in height.

  • With regard to the responsibility for the wearing of seatbelts a legal duty is placed on a passenger to wear a seat belt in a bus or coach if one is fitted and the vehicle is in motion. However, there is no legal responsibility placed on the driver or the adults accompanying children under 14 years of age to ensure that seatbelts are worn at all times.

  • Skinners are committed to a high level of safety and comfort.
  • Skinners has a written health and safety policy, complying to HSE guidelines - a copy of which is available on request.

Quality Assurance Standards for school trips and tours

  • Skinners have introduced the following measures to ensure the safety standards on school trips:-
  • Skinners have produced a generic risk assessment for school trips a copy of which is available on request.

  • Checks with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) are carried out on all drivers used on school work.
  • We are an Umbrella Body for the CRB, so can carry out Disclosure applications on your behalf.

    Additional safety measures
  • Schools and Local Education Authorities can be assured that Skinners take the following measures, which are considered ‘good practice':-
  • Skinners has a published and effective Road Risk Safety Management Programme. This is a policy document that lists the processes and procedures Skinners adopts to minimise the risks within their operations out on the road, including vehicle and driver safety systems.
  • Skinners complies with current legislation regarding the use by drivers of mobile phones and microphones.
